OG Maco - I Am Legend

A Ring from Random

Just plain.  Everything fine.  A OK.  I remember it well, just like today, as in everyday.  As I walk to school, homework undone, I smell mischief in the air.  Its not a foul odor exactly, more like a chain reaction, one that makes me tingle with some kind of spider sense that maybe something unexpected is about to happen. Cell phone rings???

I check the number, its new. Just as I was about to put the phone back in my pocket, I nearly stumble on the girl standing right before me. Where'd you come from?

Here, now, with you.  I just gave you my number.  Aren't you gonna answer that?

Cell phone rang again.  Well, I thought it was a telemarketer, besides who are you?

Just call me Ran, because you just ran into me, you will be needing my help soon.  By the way, the one who is calling is a telemarketer, how would you like to sell time?

    What you mean watches?

    Cell phones.

Plenty of those at school, besides whats that got to do with time?

Plenty. Just answer the phone, yeah?

Before I could respond with any more questions, cell phone rings again, and Ran was somehow nowhere to be seen. I check the time, 11:11am, that cant be right. Im almost to school though, but the phone is persistent. Still I wonder about that girl, why was she insistent, then suddenly I stumble into her again.  Where'd you come from?

Here, now, caught in a time loop with you.

    What are you talking about?

Take a look around you.  Dont you notice anything strange?

The streets seem to be vacant, not a soul in sight, come to think of it i havent seen any cars pass by when this normally is a busy street.  There isnt any birds around either or any living thing?  Where is everybody?  I must have been too busy distracted by the cell phone to think about anything else.

Everybody is dead. Its the end of the world baby.  Now wipe that shock off your face and lets get down to business.

You've got to be joking, this is some big prank somewhere, whos calling the shots?

Cell phone rings. No joke, answer the phone, sir so I can move away from this place.

I hold up the handset close to my ear, I hear a buzz, then a crack and Im in the middle of a busy street.  Hello?  I could hardly hear the prerecorded voice behind the phone but it says to pick up the suitcase, then follow the first person I see with a red hat.  That was all, but there was no Ran to ask what was this about anymore.

I suppose I have little choice but to become their agent, I can imagine that I must have lost myself in this brave new world, without getting any the answers to my questions or I can be real and just have adventures.  Do I have to depend on my calling?  Everytime ignore the message, I find I get stuck in a time loop with some fellow potential telemarketer, I guess this is the way they end up recruiting.  Who knows if the other person will enjoy the change of pace?  I just want to stumble into with Ran again, ask her all sorts of questions.
Bring in the Random

Everyday begins with an exception.  Handle today with care.  Just be plain gladly, because all the players are not always there.

The Phone Rings:

I do not answer, I do not care.  I turn the corner to easy street, I do not rush, I do not care.  There are no cars around, strange, at this rate I will reach school on time.  I remember I left my homework undone, I start to notice theres also no people around, this is unexpected.  Still, I expect to have some fun.

Fun does not Wait:

I thought to call my friends, Tony, Scott.  Not my mom.  Not the police.  Not some random stranger.  A girl calls me, meet me at the mall, and Im already there.

Adventure for a Reason:

So this girl, Ran Diamond, I meet her at the courtyard and what was she offering?  Hormones, to be sure my other brain was not working well, whatever she said.  Somehow I agreed to it.  I agreed to being dead.  I agreed helping her on a mission to impossible.  I agreed to what, forsaking my teenage love for her?  Im now supposed to be a telemarketer selling the real kind of timeshare to the masses, luring indirectly other newbie agents on the side.  They send the signal, I activate the messenger, and this is all done behind the scenes.  Im not supposed to interrupt the normal flow of things, otherwise Ill be stuck.

End of the World:

Time definitely stopped for me there the moment I met her.  So it did for everybody else, who need me to be myself, invisible - to them its a relief.  At least, I cannot be held accountable for the things I didnt do, and the ghosts will have another chance to live life as they would have preferred.  Its a minor technicality, the true experience has already been chosen, only the decisions have yet to be made.

Judgement Day

For some reason, it has been said that certain concepts have been stricken from our memories, we are not allowed to think certain thoughts.  There are always the monitors all around us sending us in directions we should go, we dont always follow, so its up to us to find out if what is missing is worthwhile or are we truly just happy with our lives.  For me now is the only thing that matters, everything changes, but Ive got to live according to my own preference.  I answer the call, I enjoy it all, today's just an extraordinary day amongs many.  What makes this day more special is the realization that Im having more of these days, more often than not, and if it werent so amazing then I must have been expecting the same.  Here now, as far as I know, either everything changes or you tend to forget.
